Wearing a Halo

048

I worked hard to earn this halo! It took me a grueling half an hour's work and 11 bobby pins. All that hard work and Micah didn't even like it. I aways have some new obsession and this week it's braids and updos lately. Maybe because my hair is getting Polynesian length long again and the options of styles are "lengthy". I'm gonna do a post some time this week on braids and put up a few tutorials of some neat braids.

I sure hope your Sunday went as well as mine! Sunday is my favorite day of the week. Church is always fantastic and we usually take a yummy little nap afterwards! It is also a very relaxing day around the house because the only plan we really make for Sunday is to go to church. I love the feeling of not having any time constraints. We just lounge around the couch watching shows or movies. We sometimes take a little walk or take photos for my blog before dinner. Another perk for this day, and this one is more for Micah, is that I usually do my best cooking on Sundays because I have more time to prepare. So, our favorite meals are usually saved for Sundays.

A Change of Tide

Birthday Girl

For a little while, I was doing pretty good there about making this a fashion blog but then that started to fade out. The next thing I know I am reverting to just taking pretty photos again! I'm just being honest, I am not as interested in documenting daily outfits. Not saying I am going to give up fashion blogging completely (you may see some outfit posts occasionally).  Instead, I would rather use my time hunting down "too pretty to wear everyday" dresses that are only good for one thing: photos. I love clothes, shoes, jewelry, and all that girly stuff, but dreamy and flowy dresses rules my closet!

It's all because I love mixing ethereal, dreamy (and impractical) dresses with pretty landscapes and scenery. This makes up a big part of my photographic DNA. So, yes guys, this blog is going to see more of that style again with lifestyle updates here and there. That's just what I am better at! I love casual wear fashion but at the end of the day I'm a daydreamer that likes to make pretty images come to life in my photos.

These photos were taken yesterday...on my birthday. I wasn't so excited to mention that part. Even though I am a year older, I actually didn't want my birthday to end. I felt so much love from people in my life. My husband treated me like a spoiled queen, more than usual. We ate at Cheesecake's on my birthday's eve. We took home some cheesecake (I got the chocolate mousse and hubs got the Godiva). I ate the cheesecake in bed on my birthday morning for breakfast which resulted in chocolate stains on my sheets, probably a detail I should leave out but I tend to overshare, always. We went to church and then we took a 3 hour nap afterwards! Not really my birthday request but more of my tired hubby's idea but as the birthday girl I approved of this. Then we went to a daisy field and took photos and went for a little walk on an overgrown and dilapidated golf course. Then we went home and microwaved some dinner because I wasn't going to cook dinner on my birthday! So, that's my special day. Simple but a lovely birthday nevertheless.

Lacey Grays

Gray Lace

Free People always gets it right for me. If there is one store/brand that reflects my tastes in fashion the most accurately, it would be them. I am especially obsessed with their variety of layering slips. I.want.them.all. I am a greedy littel fashionista when it comes to those slips. They are all so photogenic. The kind of pieces that makes pictures a little more interesting to ogle. Like this little number I am wearing. Mesmerizing...

On The Fifth Day Of Sweaters

015
On the fifth day of sweaters, my true love gave to me: a sack-like, versatile, sweatshirt.

I was actually napping with this sweatshirt on today when my phone rings (it was hubs) and woke me up. It was 4pm and I only had half an hour left of daylight to take pictures. I jumped out of bed and hastily prepped for the pictures and at the same time thought up of some ideas of how I wanted to portray this sweater. I decided to take on a fashion challenge and wear the sweatshirt in a non-conventional way. I totally wore it the complete polar opposite of what it's intended for. I took this humble ole' sweatshirt (and my napping, grungy self) and tossed in some pearls and lace and in no time-flat: VIOLA! From bum to glam!

Well guys, this is the last day of my 5 Days of Sweaters project...and it's been a challenge, I tell ya! The behind the scenes aren't so pretty and required alot of begging and sometimes bribing my husband and brother (to take the pictures), closet digging, changing and trying on outfits, and all other ingredients of hard work! Who knew that taking pictures for every weekday could be so much work? Would I do something like this again? You betcha. I am already coming up with ideas. But I'm ready to go on Holiday mode even though I will still be posting frequently! Got some ideas lined up to post about. Wishing you a good weekend!

A Touch Of Eccentricity

DSC_2776

I've been meaning to take a picture of the little guy hanging around my neck. I scored this eccentric little sea creature from an estate sale. He's a little tricky to wear but I have discovered he looks classy with a lace dress! He's a fun little accessory and I have been needing more fun things in my closet. Now I'm looking out for more cute little creatures and maybe start a collection!

Speaking of fun, these tangerine suede shoes are alot of fun too! Wobbling around in tower high shoes is my idea of fun sometimes, either that or a challenge. I got these shoes for a steal at a thrift/consigment store, which if you haven't noticed are my go to stores.
Topic of post: Where are your go to stores or shopping spots?! Dish and tell me why! Don't keep it a secret!

A Little Theatrical

FreePeopleLacesSkirt2-1div> I'm no drama queen, despite this theatrical skirt. Gosh no! I can't stand real-life drama, keep it away from me! Dressing dramatically however, I'm all for it. Although, to be a honest guys, I would never wear this besides for an outfit post and for photography's sake. Does that make me a bad blogger? I hope not! Sometimes I think more like a photographer and this is when I end up dressing somewhat theatrically to make the pictures more interesting. So, I don't know if I am a fashion blogger or a fashion photographer...maybe both? That's the result of leafing through hundreds of pages of Free People and Anthropologie catalogs my friends.

Story behind the outfit: Got this skirt one Christmas from my loving parents-in-law. I like to give people credit when they do sweet things =)

Endless Lace

Black Lace Dress

It was one of those self-indulgent days where I felt like wearing a beautiful lace dress even if it's just for pictures. Doesn't every girl have those days? Besides I thought I was going to let this dress and my camera out for some air today. They have just been gathering dust in the closet. And I will not have that! I believe in putting things to use.
My brother (my assistant when Micah is away) quickly snapped these photos because I had just recieved a call from Micah that he was coming home. Right at that moment. He had been gone for three long sleepless weeks. I missed him so much. You can't blame me for rushing this photo op. I wanted to get home in a jiffy. I wanted to be more artsy with these photos but my true love was coming home! But it's ok, you can bet this dress is going to be making more appearances on this blog in the future. I believe in putting things to use, remember?

Lace In the Sunshine

DSC_0083

If you haven't noticed by now, I love to jump especially for pictures. It's kind of my signature pose, haha! Although, I am not famous for it like this girl (pretty cool, right?). What can I say, I know how to have fun with fashion! So, this post is more of an outfit post because that is just my natural inclination to blog about. But I promise fashion won't be the only subject around here. I've got other posts lined up!
