It's a Boho Kind of Day
I was probably the best dressed girl on this little hike we did today. And I don't mean that to give myself a compliment. While everyone one else was dressed appropriately in work out gear, I stood out like a sore thumb and wore this dress all in the name of blogging. Oh the things I do for blogging, it is endless. But despite being overdressed for places and hikes, I actually enjoy blogging, like alot. It gets me out and about, exploring with my camera, otherwise I would be curled up on the couch with a book to my nose. I hope you have a wonderful weekend! Micah and I have the itch to go somewhere this weekend but we aren't sure where. Guess we will see what the weekend has in store for us =)

Explore with Me
I have my husband's curious nature to thank for these lovely pics. These may be my all time favorite artsy portraits! All because I stepped out of the comfort zone (into the danger zone) of an abandoned building. My husband was exploring the grounds of these antique, dilapidated stables. He was going all over the place, into the shadowy rooms and hallways, not intimidated with what he would come across. I stayed where I felt safe: where it was bright and sunny and the roofs didn't look like it was going to cave in. But then Micah called from within the structure somewhere, and urged me to see a neat spot for photos! Of course, that's always an incentive for me to overcome my fears. So, I went into this eerie building with mysterious lighting, and Micah was right. It did make for some dreamy, yet mysterious effects in photos. I hope you have a wonderful week!

Draped
I was being a typical girl with these photos...indecisive. All I kept thinking about during this shoot was: With or without hat? So, not to make my brains blow out a fuse or anything, I did a little bit of both. That was the hardest decision I had to make today. It's funny how the hardest decisions are the girly ones? At least for me. Give me just a mere minute to think about a life-changing decision...and it's done with seconds to spare. I can be very decisive about the things that matter in life. I guess, that matters most? Of course it does. I decided that.
So, today's look is all about drapery. There is something about draping that is just naturally elegant. Draping is probably my most favorite fabric manipulation. Thank goodness for ancient Greeks and their prevalent influence in today's fashion! What do you think about drapery? Love it or hate it? Or just apathetic?
Happy hump-day tomorrow!

Self Portrait
I'm hooked on studio photos because of it's convenience. When I get the trigger itch, I just run up the stairs to our bonus room and I've got my little makeshift studio waiting for me. I would have done this a long time ago but I'm stubborn and loyal to outdoor photos. But the cold weather has kept me banned from the outdoors and so I caved in. Maybe studio photos aren't always so tacky aferall!
To set up for these "studio" portraits, all I did was buy a $5 black blanket from Wal Mart, pinned it to the wall, and used a stool from the garage. I'm still playing around with studio photo ideas...these are some self-portraits that I took this evening. The dress is from a local boutique in my town by some unknown brand.

Let's Go To A Powow
It was one of those days that I felt like sporting some fishtail Pocahontas braids. This is something I do when I need to infuse some playful youthfulness in my appearance (or when I am just plain lazy to do something with my hair). I don't think I can get away with this hairstyle much longer, I'm getting too old! This isn't depressing to me, as much as it sounds like I'm lamenting. I don't mind getting older because I always get told I look 5 years younger than I really am anyway! It also helps that I am not overly obsessed with my looks too. I'm more obsessed with shoes and dresses than my looks actually and I think I will keep it that way, LOL!
I hope your weekend is going well! Also, a special thank you to all my new readers! I'm excited to get to know you!

Comfy And Earthy
This sweater is so comfy it's like wearing a BLANKET! It was fate that I got this sweater. Let me explain: I have this favorite blankie, ahem, I mean blanket that I walk around my house wrapped up in all day long. So now, instead of behaving like a 3 year old that can't live without her blankie, I can now be a normal adult and wear this sweater around the house instead! The moral of this story is that there is always a solution. Even for a silly girl like me that does nonsensical things sometimes.
So, I tend to be a complainer about the cold weather during the fall. However, I think that it's all worth it when I see the leaves turn into fiery oranges and mustards. It's fascinating and so beautiful, it's like a fireworks show! But when the show is over and the cold really settles in and the winter hits, I'm back to complaining again.

Big Hair, Big Shoes
I never really paid much attention to my hair. Not until recently! My hair has become an obsession. It has finally gotten longer and this may be why I am a little more excited about it. I've done more with my hair in the past 2 weeks than I have ever done with it in 2 years! I've dyed it twice and I went through a whole can of hairspray, which usually lasts me a whole year! Oh and it didn't help that when I visited my family in NYC my little sister introduced me to some magical powder, and now I am addicted to it! Ahem, magical powder that volumizes your hair that is...Sorry if you have known about this for years now! I live in the boonies and am a little behind about innovative beauty products that big city dwellers know way in advance about. If this is news to you too, click here for the same one that I use, and click here for another type. The other obsession is big shoes, but that has been an on going problem for years. I'm a little girl and I have found that little girls and big shoes go hand in hand!

A Practical Uniform
You would think I have an alter-ego from the way I change things up around here. One post I'm dressed in classy lace and the next I'm in a beanie looking the part of 90's grunge. You may be asking, "Is that even the same person?" It's me guys, and I promise I don't have an identity issue! At least I haven't been diagnosed one. This is actually what you would see me wearing on a daily basis. It's a little boring. More boring than my dresses but I am learning to spice it up a bit with these fringey boots. I have a closet full of dresses but I am too practical of a girl to wear them everyday. Comfort comes first in my daily routines, especially when I am running around town.
I have these leggings in navy and black. I wish I got the maroon too but I was worried it was... too trendy. Berry colors are in now but will they be next year? Probably not. See, there's the "practicality" kicking in again. I like classics, things that stick around forever. Just like my husband =)
